Rapper 50 Cent is parting ways with Shady/Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records in favor of an independent future.

On Thursday, the rapper announced that he has inked a deal with Caroline Distribution, allowing him and his G-Unit Records to go independent after 12-years under Shady/Aftermath.

In a statement, 50 Cent thanked his mentors Eminem and Dr. Dre for giving him an "incredible opportunity," adding that he's learned "so much from them through the years."  Eminem reflected that sentiment, saying that he and Shady Records are "grateful" for the role they've played in 50's career.  He also assured that the "great friendship" he's developed with 50 Cent will not change now that he's gone independent.

Fifty's first album under the new deal will be his Animal Ambition project, which is slated to arrive on June 3rd.  The album will be available for pre-order on March 18th.
