Macklemore & Ryan Lewis may be the artists to beat at this year's American Music Awards, but they're not the only hip-hop act in the running.
In the category of Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album, the rapper-producer duo's The Heist will go up against Jay Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail as well as "good kid, m.A.A.d city" from newcomer Kendrick Lamar. Each of the records have the sales to justify their place on the list, proving their immense popularity with fans.
Jay Z and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis also share an additional category - Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist. They will compete against Lil Wayne to see who will be hip-hop's most revered act.
Meantime, Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" may have been one of the year's hottest records, however, he's anything but a shoe-in for Favorite Male Soul/R&B Artist. That's because the singer is facing stiff competition in Justin Timberlake and Miguel. J-T and Robin will also face-off for Favorite Soul/R&B Album against Rihanna's hit album Unapologetic.
